Poster: background, canvas, padding and light — the same for every product

Quick answer

To make product photos consistent, use the same background, the same canvas size and shape, the same padding and position, and the same lighting setup for every product. The easiest way is to shoot all products in one spot, then run every photo through one saved preset — rmvbg's Product photos tool removes each background and applies the same size, colour and spacing automatically.

The four things to keep the same

WhatWhy it mattersHow
BackgroundMixed backgrounds look like different shopsReplace it with white or one brand colour
Canvas sizeMixed shapes make grids jumpOne square, e.g. 2048 × 2048 px for Shopify
Padding and positionProducts look different sizesSame fill and alignment in every photo
LightColours shift between photosSame window, same time of day, no flash

Set it up once

  1. Open Product photos and pick a marketplace preset, or set your own canvas.
  2. Choose the background and padding, then save it as your store preset.
  3. Run every new product through the same preset — old and new photos will match.

Questions people ask

Why do my product photos look different from each other?

Usually because the background, light or framing changes between shoots. Replacing the background and using one preset removes most of the difference.

What background is best for consistent product photos?

Pure white is the safest and is required by some marketplaces. A single brand colour also works for your own store.

Can I fix old photos so they match new ones?

Yes. Run the old photos through the same preset — the background, size and position will match.
