The short answer
Amazon's main product image must have a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), show only the product for sale with no text, logos or props, and have the product fill about 85% of the frame. Images must be 500 to 10,000 px on the longest side — 1,000 px or more enables zoom — in JPEG (preferred), TIFF, PNG or non-animated GIF. rmvbg's Amazon preset makes a 2000 × 2000 px pure-white image with the product at 85% for free.

Questions and answers
What are the image requirements for Amazon sellers?
Main image: pure white background, only the product, product fills about 85% of the frame, no text, logos, borders or watermarks. All images: 500–10,000 px on the longest side, JPEG preferred (TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF also accepted).
Does Amazon require a white background for main images?
Yes. The main image must be on pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255). Secondary images can show the product in use or in a setting.
What size should Amazon product images be?
At least 1,000 px on the longest side so zoom works, and no more than 10,000 px. 2000 × 2000 px squares are a safe choice.
Can I use transparent backgrounds on Amazon?
Don't rely on it. Amazon wants the main image on pure white, so upload a JPG with a white background rather than a transparent PNG.
How many product images can I upload to Amazon?
Amazon recommends at least six images plus a video. Most categories allow one main image and several secondary images (commonly up to nine in total) — check your category in Seller Central.
