Quick answer

Use Canva's background remover when you are already designing in Canva and pay for Canva Pro. Use rmvbg when you just need clean cutouts: it is free, gives full-resolution PNGs, handles batches as a ZIP, makes marketplace-sized product photos and keeps your photos on your device.

When Canva is the better choice

If the cutout goes straight into a poster, slide or social post you are building in Canva, removing the background there saves an export step — as long as you have Pro.

When rmvbg is the better choice

  • You have dozens of product photos and want them done in one go.
  • You need exact marketplace sizes on pure white.
  • You don't want to pay or sign up just to remove a background.
  • Your photos are private (IDs, client work) and shouldn't be uploaded.

Use both

Many designers cut out on rmvbg and drop the transparent PNG into Canva — you get free cutouts and Canva's layouts.
